Moris Yusupov, an organizer of judo tournament in memory of Kharis Yusupov: Chelyabinsk is a hospitable city and ready to welcome Euro-2012 at the highest level

Traditional competitions devoted to the founder of judo in South Urals, a Merited Coach of the USSR and Russia, an honorary citizen of Chelyabinsk – Kharis Yusupov – were held in the capital of South Urals. One of his sons and tournament organizers Moris Yusupov is sure that on the threshold of April Euro-2012 this competition has made judo even more attractive for the residents. Being a fan of this beautiful kind of sport Moris kindly shared his opinion about the forthcoming championship with an interviewer.

- Of course, taking a European championship we should wish for as many of our athletes to participate in this event as possible.  Local fighters must definitely contend for the championship. Moreover, famous sportsmen from all over Europe will arrive and this is an advantage for Chelyabinsk sportsmen to socialize and try a fall with such masters.

- Who do you think can deservingly present Chelyabinsk region during Euro-2012?

- I can judge not as a professional but as an amateur of this beautiful kind of sport. I think we have at least four or five candidates – Kirill Denisov, Soslan Bostanov, Mansur Isaev– real contenders for European championship. We also have young guys like Yartsev and Lavrentjev who can well contend for the tournament of European level.

- How about women?

- No doubt, Alina Pukhova, Anastasia Gubadova, Rada Abdrakhmanova, these are girls who can make Chelyabinsk fans glad to observe their performances.

- Do you think Chelyabinsk region is ready to accept competitions of such a high level?

- I think that if we have any little difficulties now we will eliminate them till April. This even is under personal control of the governor Mikhail Yurevich that is why all wrinkles are straightened immediately. I am sure that there are no any obstacles for Chelyabinsk region to take European championship.  Moreover, Chelyabinsk is a hospitable city and ready to welcome such competitions on the highest level.

- Sportsmen from Armenia, Belorussia, Latvia and Great Britain participated in the tournament in memory of Kharis Yusupov.  What opinion have foreign guests got about Chelyabinsk tatami?

 - Sportsmen arrived in Chelyabinsk directly from Tyumen where the world championship was held. When they saw the gym of Chelyabinsk Regional Olympic Judo preparation Center they were glad that will perform on such a site. Of course the analogues center in Tyumen is more modern and better equipped as it was built later considering the latest technologies. All sportsmen specified a high level of competitions preparation. No doubt that in the course of 2012 European championship preparation everything will be done to lift a level even higher.
