Last medal sets of Euro 2012 in Chelyabinsk to find their owners

On Sunday, April 29, on the final European Judo Championships day, Chelyabinsk will see the contests for two sets of medals in team competitions.

In the first round, Team Russia defeated Team Germany with the score 5:0. Georgia turned out to be stronger than Turkey – 5:0.

The French team secured a 4:1 victory over Team Great Britain. The current European champion, Team Ukraine, was defeated by Poland with the score 2:3.

In the semifinals, Russia gave no chances to Poland – 5:0, while Georgia got a hard-fought defeat over France – 3:2.

Repechage semifinals brought Team Ukraine a victory over the short-handed Team Germany – 3:2. Great Britain destroyed Turkey – 5:0. Now both winners will fight for the bronze.

Women had two quarterfinals. Their results allowed Team Russia that topped the Turkish judokas (5:0) and Team Ukraine that overcame the British resistance (3:2) to get into top four.

The matches where finals were at stake brought Russia a win over Germany (3:2) and France over Ukraine (5:0).

Thus, Russia and France made it to the final in women’s competition. In men’s tournament, the gold will go to either Russia or Georgia.
